I never planned to release a cover song. But…being a not-well-known performer, it is good to have some covers in your repertoire. Mad World is a song I have loved for a long time and after finding a way to make it my own and playing it live a bunch, I thought it would be nice to make a proper demo. That demo turned into this version, it fit well with the other songs I’m working on, so here we are. I also think this song speaks to the times we are living in.
My release strategy is driven way too much by the difficulty in making cover art. I don’t do a lot of singles because I don’t want to make more cover art. In this case though, the idea was a simple homage to the original Tears for Fears album, The Hurting. That kid continues to live in all of us even after we are adults. With a little research and DIY spirit, I managed to get a usable picture for the cover; no AI images here!
Hope you enjoy my take on this classic song! https://tr.ee/IEK_Qut8n5
